Pupils Enjoy A La Carte Cookery Demonstration

 

Pupils enjoy a A La Carte cookery demonstration Prepared by Head Chef Trevor McGuinness, from The New Lanark Mill Hotel Restaurant. The dishes he demonstrated to the S4, S5 and S6 Hospitality pupils and the S5 and S6 Creative Cake Production pupils all come from a local butchers and makes use of the local produce larder. The resulting style is Contemporary Scottish.
 
Trevor was representing Quality Meat Scotland which provides these demonstrations in schools in order that pupils learn about the nutritional value of Scottish Meat and also how delicious dishes can be created by using all local produce. Almost 20,000 pupils from across Scotland have benefited from Quality Meat Scotland’s nationwide Health and Education Meat Voucher Scheme.  Over 235 secondary schools took part in the initiative which was launched in September 2010, offering young people the chance to work on their culinary skills and learn the art of cooking red meat as part of a healthy balanced diet.
