Parent Council

The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 made provision for the involvement of parents in their children’s education and in school education generally. Parent Councils are composed of parents, staff and co-opted members with the Head Teacher as professional adviser, and have duties, rights and responsibilities in relation to the management of the school. The main functions of Our Parent Council are to:

  • support the endeavours of those managing the school
  • make representations on Our school’s behalf
  • promote contact between the school and others
  • report on the Parent Council’s activities
  • ascertain the views of parents
  • collate and report on these views
