 Out of School Learning Activities - Music

  1. Practise your instrument.
  2. Revise your concepts from your home study booklet.
  3. Listen to a piece of music on the TV or radio. Find out the title and artist and name the style of music.
  4. Listen to a piece of music used in a TV show or film, describe the mood of the piece and write down the type of instruments that you heard playing.
  5. Revise the notes of the treble clef.
  6. Bring in a piece of music that you enjoy (on CD or MP3).  Be ready to talk about it to a small group.
  7. Do an exercise from your Literacy Workbook.
  8. Make up a short phrase of melody. Write it down if you can. Hum or sing it to your teacher if you can’t!
  9. Listen to a type of music that is new to you. (Try a different radio station to the one you normally listen to) Tell your friends in class what you thought of it.
